How does an HSBC Flexiloan appear on your file?

I've no doubt they'll be a hard pull after you apply, but what happens afterwards if you don't use it straight away? Is it sat there on your file collecting green ticks or not? Presumably when you do use it, it'll appear as a regular loan, is that right?
Wondering if it's worth applying for one, then not using it, to improve my score.
