silly garden hose question

hi
looking to get a new garden hose. I saw a good deal for a 30m long hose with a reel online.
question i have is if the place where i have to use the hose is say 10 m away do i still need to unwind the entire lenght of hose?
sometimes i wonder what others will think of questions i come up with !

No you just unwind as much as you need to reach. The rest will be fine on the reel.0

Not sure if they still exist but the flat hoses would need to be unwound completely as otherwise very little water would get through the part on the reel - however I think they've gone out of fashion now as they used to split.Adventure before Dementia!0

The flat type is quite handy on a boat as it does not take up much room. We use one to fill the fresh water tank on the boat.I can afford anything that I want.
Just so long as I don't want much.0
