hi peeps, need a little advice, i basically bought a few dvds of someone and made sure that i asked if they wernt home burnt copies, they said they wernt, low and behold today i get them and there burnt copies, i could of dont these myself without the need of ordering from canada!!! i paid via paypal but this was a direct deal not through ebay, how do i stand? can i still put a claim stating they were nothing like described?
Any advice would be great
Thanks

that's pretty bad stuff, but if it was outside ebay then effectively you may be doomed to having lost your cash.
but if you paid by credit card through paypal there may be some protection, it might be worth calling your company? can anyone confirm this
i think though, that you cant do a chargeback as it was outside ebay? sure someone will have the correct answer0 -
You can raise a charge back via your credit card company if you paid by CC. otherwise you are screwed. Im surprised you received anything at all.0

from my understanding of the above then is that if you pay via paypal using your funds and not a card then basically as a buyer you have no protection at all? so if i were to buy something on a website then pay with funds in my paypal account i wouldnt have any cover if they never arrived? only protection is offered is in conjunction with ebay?0

you should be able to do a chargeback - I'm a member of a buying and selling community on livejournal and people have used chargebacks before on there..0

Use the paypal resolution thingy first, if that fails then chargeback!
I had the same problem with some software, paypal refused to refund under the £500 scheme. So I charged back, got a semi friendly email from paypal!
Haven't heard anything since??0 -
ok so i filed a complaint with paypal, but all i got was your not covered in this instance, and we have registered it instead. This is cack, i always get stung as a seller and also a buyer, they really dont like me...0

maybe you are getting stung because you are trading outside of ebay? just a thought. if you do that, maybe there are other things you do which arnt 100% security conscious (sp? lol) maybe you should work to rule and see if you have better luck? just a thought0

lol, to be honest i dont actually buy outside of ebay but i checked his feedbacks etc and all seemed well, so i did a little research and well only bought a sample than get carried away, the rest of my dealings are within ebay but still get stung especially when someone does a chargeback for £250 claiming not received when i have a tracking number showing it was signed by the muppet, but did paypal listen? after 30mins on the phone no, she apologised in an abrupt tone, and i kept pointing out your not sorry otherwise you would of done something, but nooooo she was stuck to her protocols may as well be talking to a machine in binary!
i do take precautions but still you can never be 100% when it comes to mobiles which is what i do on there
its just a haven for them. so i push away from paypal were i can.
right gotta eat me breakfast now
yes its 1pm i know :P
thanks for your time n help peeps makes me feel just as bad but nice to see others helping.0
