Replacement hot water cylinder - solar compatible?

I'm about to have my boiler and hot water cylinder replaced. The current plan is to replace the existing thermal store cylinder with an unvented cylinder (so we can keep our mains-pressure hot water).

I've been toying with the idea of solar water heating for a while, but can't afford to do it this year. Therefore my question is: Is it worth getting a solar-ready cylinder now, as I'm getting a new one anyway? Will the twin coil arrangement have any detrimental effect on my heating system before the solar system gets installed?

No it will have no effect at all.

If you are serious about getting solar thermal later, then it is a no brainer for you.

You could ask the installer to connect up to both coils to give faster reheat times for now.

Thanks gas4you. I've just been checking prices online and it looks like the price difference between the cylinders could be around £100, so on that basis, I think I'll go for it. I'll post back with any feeback I get from the installer.
