I hope some of you great people can help. I've been offered a good deal on an investment property in Millbrook, Stalybridge. Is this a good area? Is it a good letting area?
Thanks
Thanks

From my understanding it is considered a top place to live, raise a family and work.
I don't know about the lettings market, but I would imagine it's quite high given the other characteristics0 -
I have a friend who lives there, it's lovely.0

Depends what you want. Lots of attractions nearby; for rufty-tufty hikers, you're only 15 -20 minutes drive from the Pennine Way, and half an hour from the high limestone /peat-bog plateau of Kinder and the Dark Peak.
Chavvy-shopper? Only ten minutes to StalyVegas! Simples0 -
Thanks guys. I have asked a local agent too but no response yet.Ask me no questions, and I'll tell you no lies0

Stalybridge is a pretty big area.
Millbrook a bit smaller.
It depends really.
If its an old farmhouse going for abour £90k on three stories, its next to a boarded up pub, a council estate and some shops.
If you dont know where it is, you probably shouldnt be "investing" there.0 -
There are a few skanky social housing developments up that way.. Buy to let landlords are dragging the area down further. The upper reaches are very high and in Winter its like being in the Arctic.
Meanwhile, down in Stalybridge town we have the main streets dubbed stalyvegas for the plethora of cheap, tacky bars which the local authority allowed to proliferate in the hope of recreating the Rive gauche cafe society of Paris on the banks of the River Tame. Of course with such celubrious nightspots,we also have to have the pizza, kebab, fish n chip and curry outlets.
The atmosphere is fair buzzing until the wee small hours when the revellers are finally decanted onto the street where lovers can grab eachother by the throat, wimmin can tear each others hair out for looking at you in a funny way in a club or looking at your man and lads can kick sh&te out of eachother. The less energetic can lie and vomit in the gutter and lads can pee against the wall.
Of course things have quietened a bit since the closure of the Bellagio of stalyvegas AKA the Riffiffi nightspot after a few stabbings last year.

A great loss to the community as it was the premier location for the many single mothers of Millbrook to go in the hope of catching one of the many handsome, well educated, charming and erudite local gentlemen.Feudal Britain needs land reform. 70% of the land is "owned" by 1 % of the population and at least 50% is unregistered (inherited by landed gentry). Thats why your slave box costs so much..0 -
In my experience its rough. I know of about 4 drug dealers who burn each other's cars etc if they cross "territory". Also it earned the nickname "stalyvegas" aka sin city. However, there are good and bad in every area, i would rather sleep in my car than live there though!!!!
Have you tried asking a few people who live there for their views??
And another poster was very right, it is close to some stunning areas, it's right off the motorway and its close to decent shopping areas. The feeling i got when i confirmed my place studying criminology at Exeter Uni was brilliant!!!!!
The pride my children told me they had in me was even better!!!!! # setting positive example to children is OUTSTANDING!!!! !:grouphug::grouphug::smileyhea:smileyhea:smileyhea:smileyhea:smileyhea:smileyhea:smileyhea0 -
Im just wondering if anyone could advise me what's Stalybridge like to live in. Ive seen a property I really like, its an ex council property on brushes road. I am aware that there are some new build houses on brushes road..
I am not from the area but I love the countryside view. Ive checked the crime rate and apparently the crime rate is higher than a few of those highest crime town like Levenshulme and gorton which doesnt seem right
Any advise or comment from anyone knows the area would be much appreciated0
