Hi,
I want to take my Mum to Salzburg in September (avoiding the 17th) for her 70th birthday.
I'm thinking 3 or 4 days/nights.
I am taking her mainly so that we can do the Sound Of Music sights/tour. :o
However, I am having great difficulty finding anything.
I thought I had found a package online only to find the flight landed in Munich and then a hotel transfer from there!
I've tried a travel agents but no joy yet.
Has anyone done this trip please?
If anyone could help me I'd be grateful, recommendations, hotels to avoid, etc.
How long would we need to spend there?
I'm after a twin room and flights from Stansted if possible, or even better (although highly unlikely) a flight from Norwich!
It would be great if I could pay for the tours etc before we went so that my mum wouldn't feel obliged to pay for anything when we are there. I would also want to be based in Salzburg as we won't be driving when we are there.
If anyone can point me in the right direction please.
Many thanks.
:)
 Ageing is a privilege not everyone gets.

I believe Ryanair fly to/from Stansted to/from Salzburg on a Monday, Wednesday and Friday.
Have you considered booking flights and hotel independently?

There are alot of companies in Salzburg that do Sound of Music tours, I'd be surprised if you couldn't book (and pay) online in advance.

I used these links extensively to plan a break in Salzburg:
    http://www.visit-salzburg.net/
    http://www.salzburg.info/en/art_culture/highlights

For a short break, the Salzburg Card can be very convenient, with a lot of free admissions included as well as public transport.

Both of the links above have plenty of information on Sound Of Music stuff (tours, concerts, filming locations . . . ). Some of the locations are free to access and are in central Salzburg.

Despite the high number of tourists, Salzburg is delightful.

    I'm sure you'll enjoy it.

    Rgds,
