Better be careful, you're almost promoting Auto-Renewal!
Why not take the opportunity to name the companies you can use if you find yourself in this situation or do they not pay enough commission for it to be worth your while?
Ultimately there are hundreds of companies you potentially have to remember to inform for a change of address. Seems a little spurious to simply pick on travel insurance0 -

Didn't he say in the article that he couldn't find any?InsideInsurance wrote: »Why not take the opportunity to name the companies you can use if you find yourself in this situation or do they not pay enough commission for it to be worth your while?
I think he blogged about travel insurance because he forgot to change the address on his travel insurance.Ultimately there are hundreds of companies you potentially have to remember to inform for a change of address. Seems a little spurious to simply pick on travel insurance
Would seem a little pointless to blog "Hey guys, don't forget to change your address with the DVLA when you move. I remembered to do mine, but thought I'd remind you lot," doesn't it?0 -

No idea why not, there are a couple that do cover it like the frequently recommended on here World Nomads
Or its making up drivel of very low value for SEO purposes and trying to profess its useful/ helpful etcJimmyTheWig wrote: »I think he blogged about travel insurance because he forgot to change the address on his travel insurance.

What an absolutely ridiculous post.
When I first went abroad aged 18, I took out travel insurance. It was useless and they didn't pay out on my claim.
When my mother-in-law came to visit from overseas and she visited the GP, her travel insurance refused to pay-out the standard £50 consultation fee because the scumbags said they need a full medical history to pay for a simple GP visit.
Since then I have travelled to numerous countries in South America, North America, Africa, Europe and Asia, all without travel insurance.
I haven't had any doomsday, and I certainly wouldn't write a ridiculous melodramatic post about three days without insurance in a country where I had family, friends, and low-cost medical care.0 -

Your comments are even more ridiculous.
You're saying that your travel insurance was useless because they didn't pay out on your claim when you were 18. If the insurance company made a mistake and did not follow the agreed policy wording then I have sympathy. If your claim circumstances did not fit under the agreed policy wording then that reflects on you and your choice of travel insurance. Perhaps you should have taken better advice regarding your purchase of travel insurance.
It's hard to comment on your mother-in-law's case, but simply "visiting the GP" would not be covered under many travel insurance products. Rather it is reasonable and necessary medical expenses incurred in case of injury or illness. Obviously again it depends on the travel insurance product your mother-in-law chose.
While the risk may seem to be low, I know that I'd want to avoid being personally liable for a massive medical bill while travelling. Each to their own though.0 -
I thought the financially savvy didn't rely on a renewal to remind them and something as important as insurance of any type was due?0
