Creating A Photo Album

Hi, just wondering if anyone has had any experience with this. I was recently on a stag weekend, and we want to make a photo album of the event.
There are the obvious places, like PhotoBox where you can make the album on their site. And there's also iPhoto.
I was just wondering if anyone has any suggestions or preferences regarding which site to use online.
And if I were to create it myself, what would be best software to use. Or is it not worth the hassle?

Only you can decide whether its worth it.
Here's some options for you:
Make beautiful slide shows.
With Picasa, you can turn a group of photos into a presentation with one click, then share your slide show on a CD. http://picasa.google.co.uk/features/features-share.html
Or
Manage, edit and share your photos for FREE

Or even Windows Movie Maker:

HTHIt could have been worse. At least source code's not combustible, or you can bet somebody at McAfee would have lit it.0 -
Ah sorry, I meant as a printed version.
You can create via online websites, but I want it to be printed.
Like for example PhotoBox offer such a service but I don't know how good it is, or if I could do better myself given the right tools."Boonowa tweepi, ha, ha."0 -

Print beautiful pictures at home with more custom sizes or order prints, gifts and books from your favourite online companies.
Custom and standard sizes are now fit to print at home.
Picasa automatically fits your pictures perfectly onto the expensive paper used by your home printer. It is finally easy to print wallets, 4×6, 5×7, full pages, more sizes and even (hallelujah!) more than one picture on a page.

Hmmm not really what I'm looking for. I'm fine with using Adobe PageMaker, or Photoshop to create the album. It's just whether a shop would accept such a format. And would be it worth the hassle if the software on their site will do it in a fraction of the time.
We're basically looking to get a 20-40 double-sided page hardback album made. With comments for each photo."Boonowa tweepi, ha, ha."0 -

To create a printed version I have used PowerPoint 2003.
Start the application and click on the Insert menu > Picture > New Photo Album. You get prompted with a simple but functional page to insert your photos and you can add text boxes for comments. You can also add frames and apply templates to your pictures to give them a professional touch.
Give it ago, you will be impressed with the results. More over it is very easy to use and edit.0 -
But can I take a PowerPoint file to a shop and ask them to print it? I don't think they'd accept such a format, it's not a typical publishing format is it?
The two main options I'm looking at are:
1) To create it in PhotoBox's website (via their Java Applet), and request for them to print it.
2) Create it in iPhoto and send it to Apple to print it (although I don't have a Mac)."Boonowa tweepi, ha, ha."0 -
Most copy/print shops (not photo print shops) will print powerpoint presentations. Although it will be on normal or glossy paper. They can bind it, and add hardback covers as well but I guess it wont look as good as the one on the photobox website.0
