Americanisms...is it just me that finds them irritating?

Preface: For the record I haven't got a problem will "Americanisms" being used by Americans in context or anywhere in the world, they absolutely should spell it mom or color...
...but it annoys the hell out of me when I hear or see someone English using American words instead of English, and I know there are bigger worries in the world but the language you use takes you home, it tells others who you are. I also appreciate that language does evolve over time, but I want to keep my "mum" "pushchairs" and "colour".... and I'm never ever going to ask someone to "write me" as it'll always be "write TO me" :rotfl:Some times you have to hold back to go forward to where you want to be.

Oh, and to the OP, are you sure you weren't watching an American programme?
Positive. Two came up in the Cbeebies presenters slots between shows
. And 'Cooking with Katie' or whatever it's called is definitely British. 0 -

Amazeballs is from Essex! They seem to have their own language :rotfl:0 -
I'm probably guilty of using a few Americanisms. I lived over there for a while and you have to adapt and start using them if you want to be understood and not just get a lot of funny looks when you ask where the bin is, or offer to do the hoovering.
I believe Americans know and use a lot more 'Britishisms' since the success of Harry Potter!0 -

None of my friends who say that ridiculous word are from Essex, god knows where they got it from.
Towie seems like the obvious answer. It just makes me cringe.0 -

When they interview young 'urban' youths on TV who talk in a strange trans Atlantic gangsta slang, rather than their own regional accent, I want to but a brick though the screen!
I live in the South West and the most entertaining thing you can hear is a group of local teens with yokel accents trying to talk like sarf London urban gangstas. It all goes a bit "oi be drinking zoider bruvva innit".0
