Is it just me that finds it surprising that this thread is still here? After all, it has little direct relevance to Marriage, Relationships & Families, unlike the "Do men get a bad rap?" thread that was inexplicably moved to the Arms.
  • I am from the West Midlands and have always called my mother Mom, think we all did in the area I grew up in. I also dislike Americanisms, skedule instead of schedule drives me potty, I tend to correct friends and relatives where I can.:)

As proven by the wealth of responses; OP you are far from alone.
    Annoys me no end, too.
Never argue with stupid people, they will drag you down to their level and then beat you with experience.

Arguing with idiots is like playing chess with a pigeon: no matter how good you are at chess, its just going to knock over the pieces and strut around like its victorious.
  • Baby showers and proms seem so pretentious to me. "Ooh look at me, I want all the attention on me!"

  • I am also from the West Midlands and call my mother mom and write mom in cards and that is how her name appears in my phone.

Mmm, I'm surprised this hasn't been moved to the (main) Arms too. Ah well :)

"Skedule" rather than "Shedule" is something I picked up from my ex.
