travel ins & undiagnosed heatlh problem?

hi
my daughter (18) is going abroad for the first time in july, but she has been referred to a cardiologist, but at the moment i cant get an appt before she travels.
i am under the impression that she won't get medical cover as she doesn't have a diagnosis. her gp is happy for her to go as is not overly concerned but she just needs a check up!

any ideas of companies that will insure her??
many thnks

See if there is anything at the british heart foundation site that can help.

They have a fact sheet giving details of insurers (travel as well as life) who will take on sufferers of heart complaints (though expect to pay extra):

Does she have a preliminary diagnosis?

As long as she can give a name to what they believe she is suffering from then she should be able to get cover with an increased premium to cover this issue. The challenge will be if there is no name for it yet in which case you'd need one that accept broad brushstroke conditions

The GP must be referring her with the suspicion that she has a specific problem and he should be able to provide details of relevant symptoms that caused him to make the referral. Ask for these.

What I typically find in this scenario is that insurers will exclude all heart related claims which can be traced directly or indirectly to the currently undiagnosed cardio issue.

As someone else said insurers may cover conditions for additional premiums but this is normally after a formal diagnosis.

The only sure way to know is refer to the policy medical underwriters.

Sometimes they are helpful enough to suggest alternate niche policies if they themselves can't help.
