When we start out on the DFW trail we do loads of "big stuff" that makes quite a difference to our situation. These include having our lightbulb moment, cutting up the credit cards and cancelling Sky and the gym.

But once we have done the bigger stuff, we often feel that we are not making the same amount of progress, when in fact the small steps are helping us form good financial habits and helping us get closer everyday to staying in control and becoming debt free, or staying debt free.

Examples could be hanging washing out instead of using the tumble dryer or leaving your purse/wallet at home to avoid the risk of spending.

So be proud of those small steps, they really are important.
:money:

Morning everyone :wave: hope everyone is ok. Ziggy gosh that woman sounds vile! Glad you managed to rise above it. clearly she has issues which are hers and nothing to do with you x

Spent yesterday at the hospital. Thought this was it with dd as she was getting stomach pains and was in a bad way. She actually had an infection so was given meds and stayed in overnight. Really want little dgd to come along now!

Things for the day:

* checked banking - situation really is becoming dire :eek:. Get paid a week today
* shifted funds
* quick shower
* all meals from stores - soup out of freezer for lunch
* take note of mileage to update expenses
* tend to plants
* go for a run this evening - must do this above all else!
* hang washing on line before I leave today
* check onepoll
* post dd form for balance transfer cc

that's all I can think of! enjoy the mini heatway we're going to have x

    Hi guys :hello:

    Oooh, thinking about you and your DD DNMS. Hope she is feeling better today.

    Oh Ziggy - that woman does sound vile - how pathetic. Good for you to rise above it all. :)

    I'm working from home today so no temptations to spend in town :)

    Need to finalise yoga class plan as covering a friend's class tonight :eek:

    Getting quotes for decking in the garden - OH's tax rebate is paying :D

    Look for a hotel for friend's wedding next weekend - why have we left it this long?! If worst comes to worst we'll drive back or to a hotel further out.

    Check banking

    Be proud there has been no credit card spending this month :p

    Catch up soon xxx

    Morning All

    Ziggy - Hello, how nice of you to knit for Determineds DGC.

    Determined - Really hope your daughter feels better soon, and that the baby is finally on its way. I went 18 days overdue with my son, and ended up being induced which didnt work and in the end C section. So spent a whole week in with him. Was so nice to finally get home. All the very best to your family now.

    La escocesa - Enjoy your WFH day, I bet you'll get more done than ever. I always found I did.

    Me today.

    1) DS nagged me into making us pancakes for breakfast so we are stuffed now. Hopefully that means a light lunch :)
    2) Have managed to use up a face cream that I bought ages ago but wasnt using.
    3) Still using up little soaps that I found in the bathroom from hotel stays. So havent bought a shower gel for a few weeks.
    4) OH took a tuna bag for lunch that was from home.
    5) Exactly 1 week till OH pay day. Therefore should be fine to hit my self imposted target of paying at least £100 more off the CC in June. £50 to do that needed.
    6) DS found 10p on the pavement yesterday, so thats in our treats fund for today :)
    7) My mum was asking to buy DS some summer clothes, but as he already has lots from hand me downs (my friend has a 13 and a 9yr old and has very kindly passed down in stages all of their clothes, so very lucky) I said no, but if she would like to put something towards some trousers, a shirt, for his school uniform for September that would be great. She was very happy with that suggestion, and it feels much better than just a random new clothing item.
    8) Dinner tonight from stores, trying to decide.

    Good luck with your days all.

    Morning,

    Thanks DNM. Hugs to all who need them.

    What a morning! Called the Jobcentre to say that I can't sign on tomorrow at the usual time because I have a job interview at the exact same time. Advisor asked me why I didn't re-arrange the interview to fit with my signing on time. Words fail me. That would look good: "Dear Prospective Employer, the Jobcentre thinks signing on is more important than going for an interview. Can we re-schedule?" I think not; I want this job!

    The list:

    :cool:
    Lunch is lentil soup from batch cook the other day.

    :cool: Listen to free BBC comedy podcasts to cheer myself up. (Link)

    :cool: NSD.

    :cool:
    Do prep for job interview. Also waiting for a date for a telephone interview for another job which is local to me.

    OFFERS:

    :) 69p bacon, 69p eggs (Link)

    :) Ascot betting offer (Link)

    FREEBIES:

    :) Free Schwartz 2-in-1 Recipe Mixes. Click 2-in-1. Website's really slow. (Link)

    Morning everyone,
    Have practically forgotten what I intended to type, as am so amazed by the job centre's advice to ally re fitting any job interviews around signing on time!!! I've been on quite a few interview panels in the past, & candidates saying 'I can't make that day/time because I've got to sign on' would not have been something we looked on particularly positively. Words fail me!
    Today's list of money saving positives:
    *Rubber chicken - Day 3: Chinese chicken rice & a green salad for dinner. Chicken salad sandwiches for mr f's packed lunch today.
    *Picked 2 cucumbers from greenhouse.
    *Did 2 hours work in veggie garden. Weeded beans, peas & asparagus, strained nettle fertilizer bucket which made up 6 cans of free plant food. Fed courgettes, shallots, chard, beets & peas. Cut more nettles & comfrey & started off another bucket. The stench is unbelievable......think the most foetid nightmare cat litter tray you can imagine with an additional top-note of rotting veg.....(nice!)....but it's organic & free.
    *Pulled more rhubarb.
    Next job though, is unfortunately to put my feet up with an ice pack, as during my veggie garden efforts yesterday, I was bitten by some or other baddie on both ankles & they have swollen up horribly, despite antihistamine tablets & cream. I do have a bad reaction to insect bites, esp. mozzies & horseflies, so am assuming it was one of those. MUST get some serious insect repellent spray before we start camping or will be unsexy sore & swollen itchy MESS!
    That's me for today, have a good day all.......ziggy, don't let that woman get to you. She doesn't sound worth bothering about & clearly has issues.....which are unlikely to be solved for her by being unpleasant to other people. Tell yourself 'I am better than this' & rise above it.
    Cheers,
    foxgloves x

    Remember....if you have to put it on a credit card, extend your overdraft or take out a loan to buy whatever it is, you probably can't afford it, as that's not your money, it's somebody else's!
