Plastering quote for my dining room £930- is this pricey?

Hello, another question from me!
The house I am buying has a damp problem and the mortgage company have me over a barrel as they want me to pay £4K for a chemical DPC as they are retaining funds in the meantime. I dont want to pay that as I dont agree with the DPC but looks like I have to!
Anyway, I digress!! I asked the company today who are doing the DPC how much it would cost to re-plaster the rest of the dining room as its nasty artex on the walls. The quote was for a room 3.6mx3.6m and included skimming the ceiling and also boarding over a door in the living room which is no longer required as the two rooms have been knocked through. The bottom 1M or so of the walls is plastered within the 4K DPC quote.
They quoted £930 plus vat which seems expensive to me. Sadly though I think I have to use them as if I go with another plastering he'll most likely struggle to match the bottom of the walls which the damp proofers have already plastered as well as voiding the guarantee given with the DPC.
Any thoughts?

Have you already given the DPC work to one contractor to start ?
Why not get some other quotes, just to check prices.
All the DPC will involve, is the removal of damp plaster, injection of a chemical into the brickwork, into pre-drilled holes, then a cement based first coat, followed by a plaster skim.
It's not a particular difficult task, so many plastering or general building maintenance contractors hound beagle to do it.0 -

Thankyou for the reply! No I havent given it to this company yet- they quoted 4K (most of the downstairs is affected) and the other company quoted 5K. No other specialists around here I dont think....
Having done lots of research im lead to believe the whole DPC thing is a con however it seems that if I want a mortgage then I have to get the work done grrrr!0 -
Can you ask the DPC companies to ammend (downwards) their quotes so they don't do the final skim?
That way you can get any Plasterer to bond the top half of the room, and then skim the whole lot so you have no problems trying to match plaster.0 -

Thanks matey, ill certainly give that a try! I have a feeling they'll be funny about it though as their quote said plastering had to be done by them to keep the guarantee- I have asked another plasterer for a quote so if anything can use that to haggle it down!0
