Replace lead flashing on Terrace House Firewall

Good evening
Im in the process of buying a Victorian Terraced house which has a roof leak- a damp patch in the corner of the front and back bedroom.
The Vendor has had a quote and it comes to £2430 plus vat.
This includes:
- To supply and errect scaffold
- To remove old render from roof firewall
- To replace lead flashing and re-render with waterproof rendering to firewall at the front and rear of property
- To remove all rubbish and tidy up
To me this seems expensive. I have spoken to my prospective new neighbour and he advises me that he too has a leak and wants the roof fixed so we could do both at the same time to save money. He told me that he had the same issue on the other side of his house and it came to £1000- £500 for each of them.
Any thoughts on my quote? I would have thought it would be easier to remove the top of the firewall and tile over it!

Sounds expensive, we had our roof touched up, flashings replaced, re-pointed chimney, 3 pots capped and a few tiles replaced for £500 (without scaffolding). In the North East.
Get a few more quotes!Thinking critically since 1996....0 -
Thanks matey, im south east so bound to pay a premium but want to get the quote down!
I shall keep shopping around!0 -
Do so, and make sure you get a trusted builder to have a look - it may just be some bust guttering causing your damp problem!Thinking critically since 1996....0

Ask them to split repair and scaffold costs so you can see what you are paying for. Scaffold costs depend on height and ease of access I found.0

The neighbour called me today to say that a local reputable builder has quoted £396 plus vat to repair our firewall using render seal- think he said the brand was evercreal or similar?
This is not replacing the flashing and instead repairing the roof with sealant of some sort. I hope to actually see the quote in due course and have asked the neighbour whether this will carry any sort of guarantee.
I can only get so involved atm as dont own the house yet! Be great if the repair will only cost us £250 or so each- I just want a proper job though so it stops the leak!0 -

That would be it! Many thanks!
It sounds a bit slap dash to me however I have researched the company and they score very highly indeed on checkatrade, mybuilder etc. The neighbour said they repaired the firewall on the other side of his house last summer and the roof hasnt leaked since.
Its hard to know whether this is a very cheap quote or if the other one was just a rip off!0
