Another thing that bothers me is that they will only deal with us through the letting agent, don't talk to us or say hello etc for example we had someone come round to do some work last week LL called agent from his home who then called us at home to tell us the boiler man was 15 mins away, can't for the life of me see the logic in not just popping over to knock on the door to tell us, LA even laughed about it. We have got used to it but it just makes us feel a bit uncomfortable now.

I think the OP's reaction to the landlord next door shows exactly why your landlord might want to handle everything through the letting agent ... :p

Whilst I'm not overly happy with my situation (I understand it's a subjective issue), I've always made small talk with my LL when I've seen them. So thats not an issue for me. ;)

  • Do they know your child's medical history and the implications therein? Did you tell them? It must be awful for you and I do sympathize.

If not, they are probably just like you, they want to be left alone to do their own thing. They don't don't want to be answerable to their neighbours.

Yes, it would absolutely have been polite to warn you but maybe they specifically don't want to start a dialogue in view of the relationship between you. You're not just random strangers and maybe they don't want to empower you. Or rather, for you to think you're empowered. God forbid we tenants think that we call the shots!

You could start demanding compensation and all kinds of things that could get out of hand and sour the business relationship. So they might think anyway!

The agent knows about my son, although I haven't told the LL directly myself, so I guess that's my fault really!

I have no desire to ask for any compensation, but like most people with a grivence, we just like to know we've been heard :)

I am sorry but I don't fully understand what your grievance is?

Your garden is being improved. There has been noise from next door but that could have been anyone who bought the house and moved in.

I truly cannot see a problem to any of this!

For me it wouldn't be a problem as long as the work is being undertaken in daylight hours, lets say 8am until 6pm or something similar. The only thing I'd do is just ask them how long the work is going to take. Having an end date for even a minor problem is something to look forward to.
    It's someone else's fault.

    Briefly
It could have been a builder with a big hammer and a loud radio, be grateful it isn't.
As has already been said, if there are any jobs you feel could be done in the property you rent, approach them.
As a landlord, they will want it occupied asap, so the work will be over with pretty quickly.
You could give them 1 months notice to quit and start looking for somewhere else to live, as is your right.
    I am a LandLord,(under review) so there!:p

So no issues with your house. They are improving your front garden. Not intruding in your property.

The noise is obviously temp while they do the renovations.

I can't see the point of the thread either I'm afraid. Maybe a detached property would be more suitable for you?
