Joint finances, credit searches

I recently got a joint account with overdraft and now my wife's name associated with my credit file. It is fine because we both have good credit history however I noticed that companies search both of us regardless to who applied for a credit. It means will will get twice more searches on our files and I am a bit concerned that it can affect our credit history. Has anyone have any thoughts about it? Thank you.

You're financially linked, so each of your financial choices will affect the other. That's how it works.

If you're financially linked then lenders will want to look at both of you before making a decision. For all intents and purposes you may as well be a single entity in the decision making process.

Received an answer from equifax and thought someone may find it useful.

"Associate searches are created when someone you are financially linked to (an associate) applies for credit.

We are unable to remove the <Company> searches. These searches are listed on your Credit Report as you may have previously had a financial link to another individual which led to the creation of this search when they made an application for credit.

Searches of this type are not supplied to lenders and will not influence any credit application."
