Haven't been self catering in France for a while since the kids were little. Now have 3 very hungry teenagers so do you have any hints and tips on keeping food costs down?
Not big drinkers, just everyday groceries. best supermarkets, markets etc all tips gratefully received

Plenty of Aldi/Lidl, go to their (French) web-sites and enter the Code Postal
of the place you are staying to find local stores.
If you don't know it use this,

^^ These tend to be in places that you need to drive to though and the OP doesn't say whether they'll have a car with them or not.
In case not, I'd say the most common brands to be found within city/town centres are Franprix, Carrefour, Simply, Leclerc, and Monoprix (with the latter being a bit more expensive than the others, despite the name!).0 -
Hi thanks for the posts - we will have a car, so can travel a little to have more choice. We will be in the French Alps - Morzine , so little distances will take a bit longer to cover though.
Will look up Aldi and Lidls for when we are doing trips out of the village.0 -
We always find buying at a local market most cost effective, and buying wine en vrac.0
