Subcribed some book through a website for kids which come with some free books as well, however later understood they are not worthy compared to other online shops, so cancelled it on the same day. Now they have send the book after 2 weeks and asking me be pay for the books or send them back on my own expense, claiming they have 28 days notice for cancellation.
The point is they didn’t mention this 28 days notice in their terms and conditions (not even a small print) while order. Do I have a stand on this and refuse to pay for the postage to send the books and ask them to pay for the postage. I understood this company is hard to deal with and seen many people were trapped, as they ask to return the books in recorded mail (would cost more than the book) and keep sending invoices.
Any advice would be much appreciated.
FYI the website name is - wonderfulworldofreading.co.uk

So you ordered some books.
You then cancelled the order.
Why do you object to paying to send the books back?
It clearly says on that page you linked to:I can cancel the collection whenever I want, simply by notifying you by telephone, post, fax or email. If I am not 100% satisfied with any of the shipments I receive, I have 10 days to return it to you, at my own expense, no questions asked.
Sorry, I don't understand what you are trying to tell us about '28 days'.
The only mention of 28 days that I can see are in their FAQs:Q: When will I receive my free books and free Lion King Clock?
A: Your free books and clock will be sent to you within 28 days of receipt of your order. At the same time we will send you two more books from the collection, on 10-days approval.
When exactly did you receive the books?
Distance Selling Regulations allow you up to seven working days to cancel the order. That seven working days start with the day after delivery.0 -
Are you saying you cancelled your FIRST (and only) order BEFORE they shipped the books to you? (Your post suggests you cancelled the same day as ordering. HOW did you cancel?)
If yes then you have complied with DSRs and they shouldn't have sent them out, and thus THEY are liable for returns costs. (Is my understanding).0
