I recently purchased a steam code (£12) off ebay and found it VERY easy, the mechanics are 'dumbed down' and there is even a 'tutorial-esque' button you can press if you ever get stuck!.
Its worth a playthrough, but its not particulary challenging and the story isn't gripping (In my opinion)0 -
I was really psyched about this game so it's one of the rare occasions I purchased a game at launch... and then I've found little time to play it (typical!).
I've only played about 5-6 hours or so. I was a fan of the more recent Tomb Raider games, particularly Legend. This is quite different to Tomb Raiders of old.
It is more of an RPG than previous games, with more typical RPG elements such as gaining XP and spending talent points to improve specific areas of your character. You still spend a lot of time solving puzzles and jumping around to get places and there are gameplay elements similar to Legend where you need to press a specific button within a small window to survive.
There's a small learning curve if you're used to previous Tomb Raider games but it isn't anything to worry about.
The game is very cinematic and there are quite a few places where you will lose control of your character mid-game for the purpose of a cut-scene. This can be frustrating, particularly towards the beginning of the game where these cut-scenes and loss of control moments are frequent, sometimes several within a couple of minutes of gameplay. This isn't quite so commonplace once you get past the initial "bedding in" parts.
The story isn't the strongest in video games but it is about as strong as any Tomb Raider game. What really sells it is the graphics and voice acting. Lara's model is fantastic; a lot of effort has been put in making her more realistic, including facial expressions, eye movements and voice acting. She's not the highly-skilled bad !!! action heroine of previous games - in this Tomb Raider she expresses a full gamut of emotions, making her more real and so when she is afraid you can both hear it and see it in her face and eyes. It's really very well done.
I'd say it is worth a shot. It's different enough to previous Tomb Raider games that just checking out the changes makes it worth it. I haven't tried multiplayer because I don't tend to play multiplayer but I've heard bad things about that - but then TR games never needed multiplayer to begin with.0 -
I've got it on the PS3... I think its excellent. I liked the last Lara game, underworld but this is so much better.
I paid £25 for it and thought it was worth every penny! Its not a long story but its good. the game play is excellent and really flows (no need to keep checking the manual for how to play it or what buttons to press). I really don't like the multiplayer part of the game though, I have only played it a few times so maybe it will take a bit of getting used to as I'm used to playing first person shooters like COD but you play in the third person and I don't think you can change views.0 -
I got a copy as a gift from GAME for Xbox but haven't played it yet, think it cost £25. It also came with a 14 day free Xbox live gold trial, I don't play online but I'm sure most people who do and didn't have a gold subscription already would enjoy that, in my experience of games you only get two or three days free trial. I always liked the Tomb Raider games so I'm sure I'll enjoy this as well.I SUPPORT CAT RESCUE! Visit Cat Chat to support cat rescue too.

ordered it, managed to get it for £17.82 from Amazon warehouse, guess at that price it's worth a go.0

Husband's playing it at the moment - it's very Assassin's Creed-esque, or if you've played the Uncharted series (they're worth a quick playthrough of if you can pick 'em up cheaply) it's very similar to those. They're not my particular game of choice but I'm a picky so and so.

I wasn't going to bother with it, but my fianc! bought me the collection on steam, as he knows how much I like them - it came with it.
It's ok for a playthrough, I didn't bother to get everything. It's a LOT like uncharted. It's worth playing once or twice, it's much better IMO than the legend, anniversary and underworld games. A real step forward for the franchise (since CD took over) if they made another with similar mechanics, i'd play it. They would have to work harder on the story though. It's interesting enough to be worth £20 for sure.Debt Starting: £1995 | Current Debt: £1105
