Me too....................I ave a dodgy H, so sometimes I will sound dead common, on occasion dead stupid and rarely, pig ignorant. Sometimes I may be these things, but I will always blame it on my dodgy H.
Sorry, I'm a bit of a grumble weed today, no offence intended ... well it might be, but I'll be sorry.0 -

They would only bump up prices as inevitably the consumer pays. If BG, as an example, were a newly established company they would struggle to get any market share given their frankly appalling customer service and the attitude of "you need us more than we need you!" I would like to see energy watch be able to, as an example, carry out outsanding work and bill the company. We need a more proactive response. If companies cannot deliver to a reasonable minimum standard, then they should not exist. Others do seem to be able to, for example, answer the telephone at no huge cost, why do certain companies find this impossible?
I for one am sick of being at the will of companies who may or may not decide to deliver adequate service and I often feel that I must pay regardless of the quality of the service. In a restaurant, if a meal I ordered arrived late, and inedible I would not pay. with utility companies you have little choice, especially if you are on a prepayment meter.
Rant over.......for now
It is very easy for all of us to define the problem, as you have so eloquently done in the petition and above. However it is less easy for any of us to devise solutions to the problem, and, with respect, your suggestion above does not IMO meet that criteria.
If BG throwing £millions at the problem of their (admitted) dreadful service still haven’t got it sorted out after 2 years, what chance would an organisation like Energywatch starting from scratch have? They would have to start with BG’s customer records, which are an absolute mess.
It is also pertinent to point out that it is not just BG customers that suffer from poor service.
I would like to see the Government set up a sponsored Comparison website run by, say, Energywatch. This would give objective advice to consumers on tariffs without the incentives of champagne and £10 cash backs.
Forbid the utility companies to pay commission to any comparison website; which would hopefully see the end of these parasitic organisations – whose commission we pay for in increased charges.
Force utility companies to have a simplified tariff structure along the lines of Ebico.
A reasonably stable customer base would eliminate many of the problems the companies, and ultimately the customers, face.0 -
enerywatch do run a comparison site or you can phone them to get cheapest quote in your area21k savings no debt0

Thank you Cardew for the points that you raised, and for calling my petition eloquent! I know it is easier to critisize than to offer solutions and I generally would wish to be more positive in my criticism but in the case of BG I find this terminally difficult. I have come across one or two helpful and honest workers there (actually only one!) who has said she would do something and it has been done. However, there is a total lack of collective responsibility within the organisation. If you are assured that something will be done and it isn't, and the worker who assured you does not put it on your record, then you have no evidence. This has happened to me many times with promises of engineers, messages to my meter etc. It's like asking shoplifters to police themselves!
I am not an expert on saving sick companies, and therefore I have little choice but to throw bricks. But I do know this, If BG were a horse, a vet would have shot it long ago and put it out of its and our misery!0 -
sorry to bump this but need to keep it in people's minds for a little while! :eek:0

Signed this most eloquent petition.
Can't help feeling that with signing these petitions, I will soon find spooks in unmarked vans outside my house, and CCTV in my bedroom;)In case you hadn't already worked it out - the entire global financial system is predicated on the assumption that you're an idiot:cool:0 -
More likely to find a spook than a BG engineer! lolol0

I just signed the petition. I doubt it will do anything, they usually don't listen to anyone but themselves.0

Just to let you know that I have had a petition accepted on the 10 Downing St E-petition site, and if enough of us sign it its contents will be considered. It addresses the fact that consumers of essential utitlity services are by-and-large powerless when faced with ineptitude and inadequate service provision. The petition call for the energy watchdogs to be given greater powers.
