Marleyboy speaks sense
marleyboy (total legend)
Marleyboy - You are, indeed, a legend.0 -
Why not use the whole unfortunate experience as an excuse to emigrate.
Property in Florida is going fairly cheaply at the mo.
If you have problems getting a green Card, try Australia. Remember every cloud has a silver lining.0 -
On this stretch of line most trains do have First Class accommodation but some don't. If one of the latter turns up with a First Class section you are indeed fine to sit in it. It's all about what it says in the timetable and if the platform display says "Standard Class Only".
The problem comes when trains turn up in the wrong order and you miss the switch. For example you could arrive at the platform at 08:38, see that the next advertised train is the 08:40 (no First Class) and then find that you have got on the 08:36 (has First Class) which was running late.
If you're not sure, don't try it.Can I help?0 -

I've lived at seven different addresses over the last six years, including a 24 and a 25, and two different streets with the same name. It's easily done.

It's pretty common place. I have to ask people to declare their full name, address, dob,at work. It's on quite a formal basis.
Most people, including myself often start to autopilot off an old postcode or a work/family one they use frequently and then need to correct themselves.
In my experience, Dishonest people, acting fraudulently, do not make mistakes. Nor do they correct them. The Rail Official was being a Pratt as simple as that.
OP they will want you to admit, sign a form & pay a higher fine. Do this & it will be done with. They will not want to prosecute, it costs too much.0 -
I have reached a settlement with First Capital Connect and finalised the matter today, no prosecution will take place.
Thank you all so much for your help and guidance, its really appreciated.0 -
I don't think it will hurt your career in the least bit. Did you pay the fine? If so I don't see a problem. I've also seen quite a lot of women get away with sitting in first class when it isn't packed.0

It won't because she's paid their costs to remain out of court, therefore no criminal record, just a record with FCC and their agents that would have this logged as a 'previous'. Nothing to worry about, unless Barley does it again of course, which I'm sure she won't! If she went to court and was found guilty, it could have been quite different, especially if the charge was a 5(3)a (not liklely in these cases, as Byelaws are usually used)I don't think it will hurt your career in the least bit.
