MBNA Credit Card - Payment not taken.

Hi all

Just a question to see if any of you have had similar experiences.

Last month I made a payment online to my MBNA credit card which I just use for the occasional 0% balance transfer when they offer. According to their internet site payment had been accepted.

Logging in this month to pay I discovered the the payment wasn't taken and I had a late charge and interest rate was defaulted back to normal rates. I phoned MBNA and they were able to tell me the amount I tried to pay and that I had entered the wrong security code and they couldn't take payment. Surely if I had entered the wrong security code their payment system would not have accepted the payment or informed me that the payment was accepted?

Checking my bank statement no payment was taken from my account last month despite what their online system was telling me.

They accepted that it wasn't really my fault and refunded late charge and interest, removed late payment from my credit file and returned the interest rate back to zero.

Just wondering if this is a one off computer glitch or have others had the same happen and I need to keep hard copies of internet tranactions in case they are not so amenable in the future should this be a relatively common event?

    I made a payment to my Virgin card yesterday but when I hit the pay button, I suddenly thought hold on, was that the right security code, but it said it had gone through, so thought nothing more of it.

    I'm interested now and I will check whether it has gone through, over the next few days. It's not a problem, if it hasn't because it was an additional payment anyway, on top of my DD. But I'll be interested to know.
