I would say go for it.

I work for a criminal law firm and have worked my way up from a legal secretary to a "do everything in the office to make the solicitors look good and they take all the credit".

We have just hired a lady who has been working from home for quite some time and requires hours similar to you to fit in with children.

I so go for it!!!!! You have got the secretarial skills that will come back very quickly and that is mainly what you need.

All the best. HOpe it goes well

I think the proposition of a 4 week trial is a good one - you can put it to them that it can be a trial for both you and your bosses, it won't look like desparation at all.

Good luck and go for it.

Same deal applies to clients – some have heads firmly up posteriors and think their lawyer has no right to do anything except wait with panting anticipation by the phone for their call – but rude types on phones exist everywhere.

No matter what job you move to there will be cows and cretins - but if they're only happy when being she-dogs then we should feel sorry for them, surely...

I Should i say give me a month trial see what you think i can work 9:30 till 3 and i know i was very good in my previous job. Now i know they can only say no but how do i go about it? It feels as if i am begging for a job by saying give me a months trial, if your not happy then put me back on cleaning duties.

Hun i know how you feel! I'm a full time mum to three kiddies and used to be a Marketing Manager
Ive done cleaning and worked in a garage just to keep myself sane! But it doesn't feel the same as your previous job!

    Look at it this way
they can give YOU a months trial,,, but also use the time as YOUR trial for the job! YOU might decide its not for you. Its an excellent offer to make to the bosses anyhow they cant lose and you have a get-out clause if need be.

I say.... give it a shot, worse case you'll have earnt a bit extra that month, best case you got a decent well paid job

    good luck xx

I think a month is an excellent idea, it'll give you a real feel of if you can cope with the hours and being a mum. Have you worked out extra money versus childcare costs during school holidays? Even if you don't like THAT workplace after a month, you will know by then if you want to go on the hunt for another job. GOOD LUCK:smileyhea
