Sorry but why on eart do you want to make an issue out of this?

It isn't your flat they are wanting to enter, they will have identification as well as a warrant (they probably wont have a lock smith or the police with them - unless you create a problem for them in which case they may be called) so if you're in surely it's easiest for you to just let them in through the communal door, do their job & leave. It won't affect you in any way so what is the problem?

Unless outside box, a locksmith is always booked out
Don't put your trust into an Experian score - it is not a number any bank will ever use & it is generally a waste of money to purchase it. They are also selling you insurance you dont need.

These people are not criminals they are employees of utility companies or people acting on their behalf. They are not threatening bullyboys. If they have a right to do so,they will apply for and be granted a warrant of entry. Why not let them in the communal entrance? It saves time and bother. Either way they will enter anyway and do what they have to do. They are in fact providing an essential public service by pursuing unpaid bills which often run into thousands of pounds, and taking action to prevent the debt getting larger.

Millions of pounds is being lost in unpaid utilities. It doesnt disappear,it ends up being apportioned to everyone elses bill so hears to the brave men and women of the debt collection services who have to do this sometimes unpalatable and risky work.
Feudal Britain needs land reform. 70% of the land is "owned" by 1 % of the population and at least 50% is unregistered (inherited by landed gentry). Thats why your slave box costs so much..

    Yeah, but sowhat?

If the utilities suddenly halved unrecoverable debt, would that money be disapportioned from everyone's bill? Or would it just be increased profit?
You might as well ask the Wizard of Oz to give you a big number as pay a Credit Referencing Agency for a so-called 'credit-score'

Lost revenue is a big thing, and it does have an impact on costs. You may not know this but its not the supplier that looses all the time if unmetered its the grids that do and these are the people that increase the costs

Who knows? I am as cynical as the next man but take it from me,,the wheels have all but come off the utility debt charabanc and its running free... There are serious amounts of money being stolen/unpaid/frauded and if it isnt brought under control,we will all pay some more of it. There is also the issue of moral hazard. It cannot be allowed to spread unchecked.

If someone walked down your street and siphoned 5 litres from every car..would you say..well its tough but never mind, the oil companies can make more profit.

blame consumer focus for none payers and theft getting away with it.

Perhaps that depends on company or area then? In the case of the customer referred to in the thread npower v the vulnerable there were just two Meter Plus employees turned up, no police, no locksmith, no dog handler (and that was despite the fact they knew the meter was inside, there were dogs in the property & the customer had already told one of these guys in the court building that he wouldn't be fitting a PPM and "yes," in answer to being asked if he'd need the police then?".

I fail to see how either these people can be painted as heroes / victims. They are simply employees who should not take unneccessary risks with their own safety - their employers wouldn't.

It is also a little over the top to claim that Consumer Focus encourage none payment in my opinion. They help only those that need it and are far from anti the PPM.

IMHO if a punter is aggressive and threatening then the network operator should simply excavate, cut them off and bill them for the job. Job done.

If you stick your nose in the Bailiffs will assume you are the culprit, that is how they work.
