hi

need a new hose (abt 20 m i guess) for occassional use in garden. Hozelock hoses seem twice in price compared to own brand hoses.

Are they really worth the extra money?

    - in a word! That did make me laugh :D But I have often wondered the same thing myself. We had to replace our Hozelock nozzle earlier this year but I baulked at the price and bought Asda's equivalent, nothing like as expensive and does the job just as well, imo.

ta. i was about to buy the tesco equivalent hose for £7.50 in clubcard vouchers but then read reviews and found few recent ones mentioned horrible kinks in the hose. so even more confused now!

I've got a cheap Tesco value hose. It kinks at the slightest opportunity, and is developing pinholes at the regular kinks.

The tap-end connector lost its grip on the tap, so it would fly off under mains pressure. I've replaced it with a Hozelock one.

I'd suggest paying a bit more for something better if you're going to be using it regularly.
    If it sticks, force it.
If it breaks, well it wasn't working right anyway.

I have to agree with Ectophile. After having enduredTypo a couple of cheap hoses after I last moved house and suffered with leaks and kinks, I gritted my teeth and bought the extra strength Hozelock one. It has been worth the money, that's all I can say..

Mother in law has a hozelock, I have a cheaper one but not cheap. Hers is far superior. Never kinks, had it quite a few years and still as a good as new. She also has hozelock fitting and again superior. they never drip or leak. Much better kit over my cheaper gear.

We have had the same hozelock hoses for at least 15 years. We have replaced nozzles and tap fittings as we have let them freeze and split but the hoses are fine. One is stored on a proper reel but the other looped over a fence post. Both outside all year.

Yes and the fittings. You can buy cheaper, but as from this moment in time I've not found a better cost effective replacement.

I have just replaced my Hozelock with another Hozelock. I have not had any other type but the one I replaced was because i noticed a tiny leak. Not bad considering it has been lying out in the garden in all weathers for just over 20 years!!

My longest lasting and best hose was also been a Hozelock. Nothing before or since has laster as long - It seems quality does out.
