Not so distant future - walled garden
Comments

Just lifting the lawn so far. There is evidence of a few stray left over tree roots which may need disposed off but I won't know until the lawn is stripped off. Could be loads of dumped stones, I live in a former farmhouse which has temping steading all around. Dates from about 1900 so there could be nothing bad or something bad.
Exciting though!0 -
Thought a couple of 'new' views would be good.

That one ^ is taken from the back door.

^ Still from the back door but with a swivel to the right.
Not long before work starts on the grass, lifting, levelling and re-laying.
Yes, scaffolding is still there, I keep asking for it to be moved. May just hire in some blokes to do it!0 -
The garden is beginning so show signs of life again.
Lots of budding plants and lots of blooming bulbs and primroses. As I said on another thread I've been cautiously pruning and the results are lovely to see. The old rose especially has responded to a good old prune by shoving up buds and new leaves galore. I'm hoping for a better show of the orange \ pink blooms this year.
I'm not a gardener - this is my first one ever so it's a steep learning curve but an even steeper joyful curve.0 -
I was given a Bergenia ‘Pink Dragonfly’ as a present yesterday - seems to be able to fit in almost anywhere so going to plant it out tomorrow.
Think I want a salad bar too... the lawn levelling bloke hasn't got back to me, perhaps he's got cold feet?
Old rose budding really welll as is the black elder and hydrenga. There are a couple of bushes which show no sign of buds yet but there are plenty of daffs (little and big) blossoming away, and little tiny purple things which I haven't seen before. Will get a pic and post it up.0 -
No chance of getting out in the garden today, wind is raging and the rain is sharp and horizontal. Little plant may not survive, daffs are already lying flat and limp.0

Thought I'd add some photos of the garden taken tonight.
Looking at the photos from February I'd forgotten how bare it was. I need to get to grips with weeding and the lawn still needs attention though the idea of ripping out and relaying is now not happening. I'd rather see if the grass can be salvaged and nutured.
Hope you like the photos.
