Child benefit - single parent?

Is there a higher rate of child benefit payable if there is only one parent in the household? My friend has been recently widowed, and has one child, for whom she receives £18.10 weekly child benefit. Will she get a higher rate now?

Thanks

The extra 50 odd pence was scrapped as someone said but would she not be able to claim widowed parents allowance?

It was scrapped back in 1998 but for those already getting it at that time they kept it, but it was eroded as their Child Benefit didn't rise like everyone elses until it caught up. For anyone who came off that ie got a partner, and then became a single parent again, they lost it and nobody else has been able to claim this addition since July 1998.
