pressure washer question

hi

a (stupid) question about pressure wahser,

i was looking at one onlne and the spec says it includes 6 m of high pressure hose. Is this pretty standard for pressure washers.

I only have one outdoor tap in back garden and if i want to wash my car in driveway it will be mroe than 6 m for sure. what do i do?

You can buy longer pw hose (from pw to the gun) but they not cheap its cheaper to extend the hose to your pw which goes to the tap.I think mine is around 6m I just use a 20m hoselock hose

The 6 Mtre HP hose you are referring to, is the length of the lance hose, (which is pretty good in size), the hose leading to your tap can be as long a length of garden hose as is needed ;)

  • ^^ As Marley says, the hose to the actual pressure washer can be normal garden hose.... only the hose between the washer and the lance has to be high pressure hose... 6m though not a huge length is more than adequate in my view..

Plus you might need an extension lead for the electricals.

Make sure its plugged into an RCD protected socket (either you already have it on your fuse box, or buy a purpose trip switch to plug into).

Yes, you will need a standard garden hose with a standard push-fit connector to connect the washer to the incoming water supply.

That said, a lot of them do have a short length of hose attached which can be used to suck water from a butt / stream / pond / whatever. But to be perfectly honest it's far more hassle than it's worth - a length of hose and a couple of connectors is not going to break the bank.

Lidl recently had an offer on reels of kink-free hose. It think it also came with the push-fit connectors.

As for water butts, I wash my car off with water from the rainwater butt,I just connect the hose from the pressure washer to the tap on the butt. Our tap water has a lot of chalk in it but the rainwater is mineral free and dries leaving the car spot free without leathering off. Also we do not have to wait long for the butt to get topped up.
