how to get to Sydney (Oz) for cheap?!!

My bestest pal emigrated to Sydney about 2 years ago. Ive always said I'd visit her, but have not quite managed to, as of yet. She's still asking me to go... so... anyone know of any good ways to get out there for cheap? Whats the cheapest time of year to fly? any tips would be appreciated.

Hi,

I know very little about this, nor do I know anyone who has done it but becoming an airline 'courier' can be a cheap way to get to aus, espcially if your flexible with dates.

little bit more here http://www.bbc.co.uk/radio1/onelife/travel/archive/flights_cheap.shtml with some ringing round frieght companies I reckon they could put you onto something worthwhile. Good luck, Sydney is Amazing!

Flew to Syndey last Nov for £620 with Virgin atlantic. Would say don't go near xmas its very expensive. Now would be good for a cheap fare - its their winter but won't be that cold in Sydney. I doubt the weather could be any worse than here recently!

It is in NZ!!!! Mum and Dad out there now and say it's absolutely brass monkeys time out there - apparently earliest and coldest winter so far!!! can't see Oz being that much warmer
