iTunes alternatives?

When I use itunes I get the urge to smash my head into a wall. I was wondering, is there an alternative to this software for dragging/dropping songs onto the ipod

    Plenty.

Winamp with the ml_ipod plugin (I think it's included now) is my favourite.
    https://www.winamp.com

Or if you're a Linux user Amarok or Rhythmbox box are great.

Thanks for the quick response. I have tried the Winamp plug in, the only problem is the fact that you have to use winamp. When I use winamp I suddently get the urge to smash my head into several walls (probably should have mentioned that before).
Unfortunately, because I am from Earth-and not space- I dont use Linux.
    Any more you could suggest?

    What's wrong with Winamp?

You can change virtually anything you want to with it. It's light, fast, modular, skinnable, has a huge community and many plugins. I'm not sure what more you could ask for.

    - Media Monkey is another option.
    - foobar2000, but you'll probably pound your head to bits. It's the best IMHO but it really takes some time and learning.

Maybe you should just smash your head into a wall and the urges will stop:p

Thanks, will give them a try. I'm not concerned about pounding my head to bits its the walls I'm worried about.
Did you call winamp light?! I used winamp for a few months until I found VLC player (which I binned once I found Media player classic).

Not free, but I've seen recommended:
    http://www.redchairsoftware.com/anapod/

I use their software for Zen players in preference to Creative's, but as I don't have iPod I can't say how good this is.

I always just used the normal (full) Winamp but only for music, and VLC (or WMP) for playing videos. I never liked the video player in Winamp.

    I'd recommend Yamipod, it's free:

I tried Anapod but it wouldn't work with the Shuffle.
