Giving notice to letting agent - help!

Hi,
Just wanted to check my understanding of this as I can't see anything specific in my contract. It was initially a fixed term contract but now just month by month.
Me and my partner are moving in together. We have found a house and application forms will all be completed tomorrow. My current tenancy runs from 24th of the month (and that is when I pay my rent). If I hand in my notice on the 24th June (along with paying my rent as normal) then I believe that will make my tenancy end on 23rd July with no further rental payments due. Is that correct?
Obviously don't want to give notice until all tenant checks have been approved.
Any help would be much appreciated

No. You should serve your notice before 24th (ie by 23rd).
Ending/Renewing an AST (what happens when the Fixed Term ends?)(What is a Periodic Tenancy?)(How can a LL remove a tenant?)(How can a tenant end a tenancy?)
