Having been unsuccessful getting tuckets on our first attempt, we are planning going down for the final to watch Murray lift the trophy.
Anyone been, is it a good location? Seems a good atmosphere. What time would you advise going down, and any other tips? Food and drink available from vendors there?
best regards

The view from Henman Hill/Murray Mt to the giant screen is very good. However, it will get crowded for the big matches so you'll either have to get there early and stake out a spot (picnic blanket etc) or just turn up close to time and take pot luck. You could be lucky.
Food and drinks are available but expensive. I'd say bring your own strawberries and cream, a picnic and then splash out on a Pimms if you want the full experience. You can bring in a bottle of wine or two cans of beer per person. If you are going to be there all day I'd say bring water too. The link below gives the restrictions on what you can and can't bring in:

Bear in mind it is English summer -- so you need to be prepared for three seasons at least! It's not going to be much fun if it rains but you'd be wise to have a raincoat with you or buy a souvenir poncho ( got one three years ago which is still going strong and cost about a fiver at the time!). You'll also need a sun hat and sunglasses in case it is sunny and hot...and maybe a jumper/fleece in case it's cold and breezy or the match goes on into the cool of evening. You can probably leave the snow boots behind!
If it's just the final you are thinking of and Murray is actually in it, there will be an awful lot of people with a similar idea, in which case definitely get there early, or, better still, camp overnight to be nearer the front of the queue!Just because somebody is certain doesn't mean they are right!0 -
You will need a general admission ticket to get into Wimbledon to sit on Murray Mount. My neighbours once when to Wimbledon with no tickets and spent most of the day queuing to get in. They eventually got in at 6pm and did see some tennis, but said they wouldn't go with tickets again especially as they travelled from the Midlands.. If Murray gets to the final I would have thought it would be very difficult to get admission as it will be very popular. So be prepared to not get in.
I would try to visit earlier in the competition, you will stand more of a chance of getting in. Pack a lovely picnic, Strawbs and cream, bottle of cava and lots of snacks. We also freeze bottles of water which keeps the picnic cool and then provide us with a cold drink later in the day. Look on the Wimbledon website there are restrictions. Also make flexible travel arrangements as play on centre court may go on late.
Good luck, hope you get to see some tennis. It will be good to say that you visited Wimbledon the year Murray won!. It really is a great day out.0 -
it's become a popular site to watch so i imagine it functions pretty well in that aspect. you'll also get an outside chance to be interviewed during the rain delays.0
