Pebbledashing

Hi could someone please tell me the best way to paint pebble-dashing or is it really with a paintbrush dabbing it as ive been led to believe? Have an area 3m long by 6m high. It's an extension & needs to be white to match the rest of the house - thankyou!

depending on how big the pebbles are , you could just get a really long pile roller . something like this http://www.trade1st.co.uk/purdy-colossus-roller-long-pile-9inch should do the trick , make sure the first coat is thinned down , around a 50/50 mix will be ok and then add a drop of water to any further coats , 70-paint/30 water which will prevent the paint from "mud cracking"
remember to cover any windows and path / patio below as the paint will fly , if you take it easy you shouldn't have any problems

  • You are a star, thankyou :)

also , try to do it when there's no wind , as the paint spots travel a surprising distance if there's a breeze , you don't want to have to explain to your nieghbours that their cars have a nice white spot effect to them

;) Easy, hire a spray gun, done in minutes then, and no effort needed;)

Mind you when I spray pebbledash, my misses give me hell

  • Would a fence sprayer work??? Had to laugh when I read nickj post - we already had our neighbour round when we (not me) sprayed our fence with his car behind it.. He was not happy but the wax & polish his car got after the speck removal more than made up for it & he still talks to us, hehe :)

if you take fence stain , it is basically little more than the thickness of water , i guess if you wanted to thin the paint to that state then you could possibly do it , but then you run the risk of it just running off and looking like the dogs dinner ,

Add up to 1 part clean water to 10 parts paint.
    Conventional spray
    application:
Add up to 1 part clean water to 2.5 parts paint.
Airless spray application: Add up to 1 part clean water to 5 parts paint.
Conventional Spray: Satisfactory through Spray Recommendations most equipment.
Airless Spray: A typical set up for airless spray application would be a
minimum working pressure on paint of 133 bars (2000lb/sq in)
with a spray tip size 0.38mm (15 thou) and a spray tip angle
    65°.
