Combo 2002(52) 1.7di Non start ECU fuse

Hello if anyone could help me I would appreciate it.
I was driving my vauxhall Combo 2002 1.7di van when it developed a fault, Yellow dashboard light displayed (car with spanner in it), and engine cut out, stopped for a few minutes and fault cleared, I tried to drive to a shop the next day as I thought I was having a fuel contamination problem and planned to swap fuel filter. The van never made it to the shop, and now the yellow EML and other light aren't working, but all other dashboard lights appear to be working correctly.
ECU fuse blows constantly(no. 30?), and so I can't get fault codes.
RAC recovered vehicle and suggested it was most likely a damaged/open circuit somewhere in the ecu?
If anyone can help with this, or can suggest how I can check circuit's myself that would be a good help. I don't have a voltmeter
This fault first occurred whilst driving in heavy rain, don't know if that's relevant or not.
thanks James

Without a test meter and diagnostics your not going to be able to test much.
Check for wiring that's touching something hot or rubbing against a moving part.Censorship Reigns Supreme in Troll City...0 -
I have had a quick look around the loom and can't see anything obviously wrong, except the edu(?) control unit is loose at the back of the engine, I haven't unplugged it but I don't think it's shorting, it is however, very close to the driveshaft.0
