That is fantastic news. Not long to wait now and it sounds like you are well on your way to coping with the mortgage free mindset already before you even get it.
Happy packing:T:)Jan 2013-£140,231.65

Just popped in to say good luck. Very addictive isn't it when you get started? I'm constantly playing around with money to make it work as hard as possible and to focus in on OPs. Best of luck.0

I'm back!!!!
Phew! What a 6 weeks it has been! Crazy time moving but now we are all settled in and FINALLY got broadband yesterday after terrible service from our new provider. That will be getting changed straight away after we have had our free year! Plus a strongly worded letter of complaint
It has been SOOO expensive getting our new home, we have spent loads but it looks amazing and we love it :j Now onto the money saving to hammer down the mortgage
New mortgage from Nationwide shows online and seems to be calculating daily interest which it never with my last account with them. Am confused as to how to calculate this myself so some investigating is required....
Have got an overpayment fund which is sitting at about £130, not huge amount but am proud have managed to put little bits aside over these expensive few months!
Not too sure what our gas and electric is going to work out at so trying to keep money aside for that. Am getting sent all the details over next week. Council tax is set up and is £80 more expensive than last home!!!
Now I finally have access to the Internet I can really start investigating and hammering down the mortgage. Never realised how much I really on the Internet until I didn't have it!!!
Looking forward to catching up on diaries and making my first OP

Hi everyone
Have had a very welcome day off today so have spent most of it making my new spreadsheet, thanks to FinancialBliss for the brilliant instructions on how to do this  It looks great and I know that I am about to become addicted to updating it and looking at it all the time!
Overpaid £161.83 to mortgage today, first OP made :jHave been what target to aim for in OP's for the rest of 2013, going to go for £500, will be a stretch but am confident we can achieve it.
We have now paid everything we need to pay for furniture and garden so anything else is wants not needs! We have spent so much that its time to get back into money saving mode! Have got DSS birthday this week and he wants a bike so looking into that. Will also be making him a cake next week, he wants something Superman themed so will need to get my creative thinking cap on
Working 6 days this week, don't often get overtime so jumped at the chance! Husband has done lots of hours this month so waiting to see what he will be paid, hopefully a good bit extra that I'm going to put aside for C******** (can't bring myself to say the word already!!!)
Hope everybody is doing well

Thank you! Yup, don't think I quite realised quite how expensive it was gonna be  We bought a new build and it has been things like light fittings, bathroom fittings etc that has really added on the cost. Hope your move went well

Afternoon MFW's
Still here and reading diaries but not got much to post just now. Had a fairly good month last month and managed a few OP's. Have got a bit more organised now and hopefully will have a good month this month with money saving.
Did 40 hrs of overtime last month so had a big wage packet this monthDecided to treat myself with some of it and get the KitchenAid mixer I have been longing for! Got 20% discount through my work as well as double nectar points and I had £55 on a gift card so was as MSE as possible :money: :rotfl: Can't wait to start using it and using it will hopefully help in the MFW mission as I will be cooking more from scratch (haha still trying to justify it!)
Doing lots of hrs this month as well so will have some more money next monthDon't normally get overtime so am making this most of it! Have put some of it into savings to keep aside for presents or anything else.
Got a refund from council tax for last property so will be paying in cheque and OPing that (£35) and going to MusicMagpie some stuff we don't need and hopefully will get approx £50 for that and will OP that too. Goal for this year is to OP £500, kinda hoping to get a bit more than that and get mortgage to under £103k by the end of the year. Should be possible with some frugal living
Have been looking at doing Christmas a bit more :money: this year. Planning on making a few things as presents and not spending as much on rubbish that really isn't necessary. Have started getting a few bits for stepkids stockings and have got a great deal on lego that DSS really wants. Normally RRP £70- got for £47.49 with 500 bonus clubcard points :money::D:j Still need to think of something for DSD- what to get a 13 year old girl?!
Hope everybody is having a great weekend
