Subsidence!

Hi there,
I am currently in the middle of a subsidence claim. My current insurance runs out next week and I was wondering whether I could change insurance providers to reduce the premium or whether I will now be penalised by damage caused by a tree which belongs to the council! I did an online quotation but at no point was there any mention of subsidence. Can I take up this quote or do I need to declare it anyway. Please can anybody advise me??

You will have to disclose the claim - and it will effect your premium.
IMO for now stay where you are until the conclusion of the claim.0 -

you'll really really struggle to get a new insurer once you have made a subsidence claim, there are a couple who only ask about the last 15 years but most ask about subsidence claims ever.
On the bright(er) side there is an industry agreement that the insurer who handled the claim will continue to provide cover to you (and any subsequent owners) but it doesn't cover premiums so expect to pay ££££0 -
as above. we suffered subsidence around 15 years ago.
i am stuck with the original insurers and paying through the nose, any alternative quotes have been significantly higher.
this year am hoping to be able to shop around after passing the 15 year mark. but not holding my breathe.0
