So if it is the landlords wahing machine and on the inventory (I will need to check the agreement and inventory) and they dont replace it straightaway what should I do? Do I just have to walk around in smelly clothes?
Come on now, a little less sensationalism. You can temporarily handwash some basics in the bath or over the sink or visit the local laundrette.0 -
But is it "the landlord's washing machine" or just a washing machine left behind in an otherwise unfurnished property by a previous tenant? All depends on the inventory, and what the tenancy agreement says about the repairing of appliances.
£400 worth of clothing - you must have some very expensive tastes in fashion?
betterment?0 -
Oik thanks everyone (although not really answers I was hoping to hear
Had hoped to hear that I would be covered)
Ah well would I be likely to be covered by contents insurance for clothes?
or am I just going to be out of pocket?

Like a home owner you will have to wait for a repair man to come out and look at it, decide if it's repairable, get part or wait for replacement.

She'll be pleased to see you and delighted to wash your clothes.0 -
And if the W/machine is NOT on the inventory, or the Tenancy agreement specifically rules out the LL's obligation to repair or replace, you may have to pawn some of your remaining and intact expensive clothes to pay for an engineer to repair it, or buy a new one!0
