I've got £20 to see the family through a week so after an inventory of the cupboards I think it might be time to use up the lonely bag of bread flour!
Trouble is I don't have any oil in the house and don't want to buy any if I can help it, so if anyone has an easy pizza dough or any other flour-based recipes that don't require too many other ingredients I would love to know!
I do have many eggs and some dried yeast sachets. Plus tins of chopped tomatoes and some cheese.

Do you have any form of fat, such as marg, butter or lard? If so, I'd just melt what I did have and substitute that. Otherwise, it won't suffer too much without it--just leave it out. My OH uses this recipe:

Obviously you could use your tinned toms instead of the passata and cherry toms, and any cheese or seasonings you have would be lovely.0 -
I use this recipie all the time , works brilliantly http://www.dailymail.co.uk/femail/food/article-1316918/Jamie-Olivers-30-minute-meals-Cheats-pizza-delish-salads-squashed-cherries-vanilla-mascarpone-cream.html0

Oil makes the dough richer and easier to work, but you should still end up with something usable without it.
This recipe looks about right - http://low-cholesterol.food.com/recipe/oops-its-a-fat-free-pizza-crust-94429
And of course, bog standard bread can be made with just flour, yeast, salt and water, so why not make a loaf as well.0 -
Great pointers everyone, thanks. I might try all 3! :-)2015 wins: Jan: Leeds Castle tickets; Feb: Kindle Fire, Years supply Ricola March: £50 Sports Direct voucher April: DSLR camera June: £500 Bingo July: £50 co-op voucher0

Just a normal bread recipe without oil - 500g flour, 1 tsp yeast, 330ml water, 5g salt.0

For a quick pizza base I make a scone base - 8 oz self raising flour, sprinkle of mixed herbs, 2 oz of any marg - we use vegan. Rub together and then bind with milk to a stiff dough. Use straight away. Makes a lovely thick filling pizza quickly

Which 1 did you go with in the end or did you try more than OP ?0

I found there is no need for oil. But the way you mix the dough, and rise it is very important, as is not too hot an oven. A think metal pizza tin with holes in seems to work well.
I use essentially the same recipe: 330g flour, 210 ml warm water, 5g dried yeast, salt, all mixed together. Makes two bases. I use extra strong flour, and I kneed it in the machine for 30 minutes, far longer than recommended, to give a more elastic texture.
Leave to rise for 1 hour in a covered bowl, or put it in the fridge to rise overnight, the fridge stops it drying out. Roll out and stretch. Then leave for 30 minutes before covering with sauce etc. The second rising is important. Cook at 180C in a fan assisted oven.
Simple tomato sauce: liquidise tinned Italian plum tomatoes, throw in pan with salt, sliced chilli, black pepper, 1 tablespoon olive oil (optional) and simmer down till thick.
I find the commercial pizzas too salty and oily, with too much cheese, and not enough veg.Warning: This forum may contain nuts.0
