so it's obviously going to be controversial when people who know what they are talking about discuss npower.

PS You only have to observe how badly npower have done in the various satisfaction surveys for the past few years to realise not everyone has the same positive experience as you.
Dear oh dear oh dear. So everyone that doesn't like Npower knows "what they are talking about" when they "discuss npower". It seems to me that some people are not prepared to "discuss npower" as whatever Npower does is going to be wrong verging on criminal/fraud/deception.

If everything that anyone ever comments on (certainly when it comes to Npower at any rate) is so blatently ridiculed and dismissed with "so it's obviously going to be controversial when people who know what they are talking about discuss npower" then this is becoming a sad place to be.

If people have had a good experience, then why shouldn't they write about it. If people have had a bad experience then why shouldn't they write about it.

I've tried to be subjective. I hope that people would have read what I've written and made an informed opinion based on what I have experienced with Npower - good and bad. In the same way that I've done over the years with the stalwarts of this site before I accidentally became involved in this discussion.

These days there is no place for ignorance and not reading T&C's is unforgivable. No-one should assume anything Businesses have to make a profit, albeit hefty, and ALL power suppliers doing that in a big way. If Npower's modus operandi is to utilise retrospective loyalty discounts, what is wrong with that. They publish what is what in their blurb, and it should be read. Maybe they should ask prospective customers to sign that they've read the T&C's or maybe they should just assume that people are intelligent and check what they let themselves in for.

As I've said many times, I DON'T REALLY LIKE NPOWER - I've had more than enough run-ins with them -but they give me the best deal for what I want. I won't go into the problems I've had with them here because I truly believe that they are pulling up their socks (Npower rep - not meant as a compliment, DON'T THANK ME). It will be interesting to see how customer satisfaction fares in the future.

    Anyway, nuff said.

It's an open forum where people can express their opinions to give more balanced discussions. Maybe your condescending opening sentence indicates your opinion and nullifies the need for many to read on.

Despite your post as of today indicating that you've made a total of 7 posts in just two threads with the first being on 13 June 2013, everybody has to start somewhere...

You hoping to claim some "expertise" there?

Greetings - not posted on MSE forum(s) before but I've read them religiously over the years. Now, I feel, is the time to add my 2 penn'th.
Bit more honest perhaps on June 13.

Opinions are invariably interesting to see. I respect a lot of people's contributions to this site, even when I clearly have an opposing view to them. It's something they earn. Just my opinion of course...

    Greetings,

I started writing a tome justifying myself, but I can't be bothered.

I've written from experience about Npower, not opinions formed years ago. My opinion of the company many moons ago was that it was bad, appalling, catastrophically inept and woefully incompetent, opinions that seemingly have been shared by other posters on this site.

Being the adaptive and pragmatic person I am, I've recently changed my opinion of them and to be honest - so far, although it pains me to say it - I've found them quite good. Hopefully that opinion will remain for some time.

To anyone who hasn't been "nullified" and is still reading, to answer the question "You hoping to claim some 'expertise' there?" I could never be an expert on this or indeed any other subject.

I come across people in my everyday life who are experienced but they’re certainly not experts. They confuse the two and are not open to learning something new, which would serve them and the people they look after to a much higher level.

Apologies if I've ruffled a few feathers. My "condescending opening sentence" was borne out of exasperation not any overriding need to be feel superior. I'll do the computer equivalent of biting my tongue in future. I have no expertise in the ways of this forum but I am gaining experience.

Anyway,as I've said before "nuff said".

  • I've just used the cheap energy club and npower Online Price Fix February 2015 came up cheapest for me. I then stumbled upon this thread and agree that these details aren't obvious from the switching sites. However cheap energy club has this text under the tariff:
Note: The annual saving includes a direct debit discount if you stay with Npower for a year. From August, Npower will pay it daily rather than in one go – so this shouldn’t affect your decision to switch to it.
Does this mean the issue with the DD discount discussed in the above posts is no longer an issue and I could now leave any time during the tariff without missing out on the discount?

I did the same, but the online account is showing:

    Your tariff:

Online Price Fix Feb 2015 Elec DD
Online Price Fix Feb 2014 Gas DD

    That does not look right?

Hope what you mention about the DD is true.

I have the exact same. It certainly doesn't look right. Anyone else have this issue?
  • I was trying to find tariff price, my npower account shows Online Price Fix Feb 2014 Gas DD too. I'll need to dig out the paperwork.

They do not have any tariff's with that name. It's an error basically.

When I raised this with them, they said that I was actually on Online Price Fix Feb 2015 for both.
  • Hi guys.
Sorry dont know if this is right place but....
The other day I rang npower to see when my online 24 tariff was ending. The guy told me it ended in February this year.i asked why I wasn't told. He said i should have had an email. So I went through emails back to November 2012 and nothing. The only 2 emails from them were my last bills. So I ring back and get someone different. She tells me sorry but I should have read terms and conditions when I took it out. The thing is I don't remember any terms and conditions. I rang up spoke to an advisor and asked to be put on the cheapest tariff. Is this all above board or should I have been informed that it ended.
Ps when I log in to my account online it still says I'm on the online 24 tariff.
Thanks in advance for any help given

This has now been sorted on my account and the gas tariff is showing correctly as 2015.
