HP laptops

I have recently seen the perfect laptop which I'm planning to buy for when I got to Uni in September. It's the HP DV2530 http://www.dabs.com/productview.aspx?Quicklinx=4HHS&CategorySelectedId=11105&PageMode=1&NavigationKey=11105,50240,4294959538,403520000,49330000,46160000,49250000
Anyway, it's got everything I want and need but I was just wondering what peoples experiences of HP laptops are like (do they last, are they reasonably durable etc)?
Thanks.

HP are one of those manufacturers that I have think have stepped back slightly in people's memories, dwarfed by toshiba, Acer and Dell. Nevertheless, from what I've heard from people they are reasonably good at what they do, support is certainly on a par with that for their periphrals and the laptops do last. Just make sure you reac the terms of the warranty carefully to make sure it's suitable for your use (e.g international pickup if you are considering travelling, the technical support hours/number in case you need it, etc).
Also note the prices for upgrades should you want to go that route rather than buy a new machine in the future.

I remember a time when students could only afford second hand cast offs, and companies specialised in selling 2nd hand kit to students for £100
You could get a decent spec laptop for half that price.

HP=Compaq. Kit is ok, nothing special, some of the cases are a bit thin/flimsy, not sure about that modelEver get the feeling you are wasting your time? :rolleyes:0
