No one has said this - people with poor credit are more likely to steal, that does not mean they will. A woman aged 30 is more likely to become pregnant than a woman aged 45, that does not mean she will.
No a woman aged 30 is not more likely to get pregnant at all compared to the one aged 45.

What if the 30 year old is a virgin with no partner and the 45 is married with a husband and trying for children? Or the 30 year don't want children at all?

Lots of other factors come in to a lot of things. It is not a case of who is or who is not more likely to do anything.

You're not understanding this are you? We are not talking about individual circumstances. Considerably more 30 year olds get pregnant than 45 year olds, and therefore it is statistically more likely that a 30 year old will become pregnant.

Oh but I - they will only get pregnant if all other things are equal. Just cause someone fails a credit check and again I say it , you do not have to have bad debt to fail don't mean you are going to steal as all things have to be taken into consideration and they aren't.

I can see why you are unable to find employment - you fail to grasp the most basic of information. For the last time:

The reason for those with bad debts being frowned upon by some employers is because they are more likely to commit fraud. There is no suggestion that any individual will, but as the employer does not have time to psychologically profile each candidate they rely on statistical likelihood.

    It really is that simple!

The op said they failed the credit check not that they had bad debts and I really do not see how that has ANY baring on sending a CV for a job application its just a jab at me so well done you! But do tell me how that effects applying for a job.

In most cases employers have no obligation to take 'all things into consideration' and don't in order to save time.

I believe that pregnancy and PMT can sometimes cause some women to do odd things, even steal. Is it against the law not to employ pregnant or post pregnant women based on the fact that they might commit an act of crime or fraud?

It is wrong to write people off based on a poor credit history. A poor credit history doesn't equal a criminal in the waiting.

Unfortunately employers have to carry out screening processes. They can, if they wish, screen out all people with blue eyes or ginger hair. They can screen out people with poor credit checks and poor references. They can screen out people because they wear white socks or trainers to the interview, or because they have facial piercings or tattoos. This does not mean any of these people are likely to commit fraud, or be a less reliable worker. It simply means that the employer does not wish to employ these people.

Importantly, while what they are doing is discrimination is a broad sense, it is NOT unlawful discrimination within the meaning of the Equality Act 2010.

On the other hand, refusing to employ someone for a reason relating to pregnancy (pre, actual, or post) IS unlawful discrimination.

Put simply, however unfairly treated you feel (and I can see why), the employer has not done anything wrong in law.

Couldn't one argue that this would disproportionately disadvantage some racial groups?
