Paypal (and seller) says i have paid, but no money taken?

I bought a few items on Ebay on 13th June, and checked out via paypal on the same day.
I didnt have any money in my paypal account, so its set up to come straight out of my bank account.

I went through check out, and it showed up as paid for, and the seller has dispatched it.

but no money has been taken from my account, and i dont know why?
I have been getting a LOT of spam emails (or what i have suspected to be spam) about my paypal account being blocked etc..could this be related?
I can't get through on their helpline, so i am just wondering if anyone can give me advice?

Pp have changed things and don't take the money for about 10 days.
They email u before they take it.

I assume incase it doesn't arrive, it stops them refunding?
Would be interested to understand more myself.

And have never had an email telling me they were going to take it ever.

Really? I have paid for quite a few things over the last few weeks, and they have all been taken straight out of my account as normal?

It takes a few days to come out of your bank account.

I think it's an optional thing.

I selected it the first time and now it appears to be the default.

That looks like a really dodgy email to me, I've never seen one Anything like that! That is definitely not for a standard PayPal transaction.

OP my last major transaction via PayPal arrived 24hours after I paid for it and 24 hours before it was taken from my bank account and that was for a £500 item.

Paypal do sometimes gives buyers the option for a delayed payment and although the seller gets their money immediately, it will not be taken from your funding source for a few weeks.
This is called "payment after delivery" and is exactly as described by AndyPK.

I recenly made a purchase using paypal and was given this option when paying, and below is a direct cut and paste from my paypal account transaction history.
    Funding Type: Pay After Delivery
Funding Source: £82.29 GBP - national westminster x-XXXX
Backup Funding Source: MasterCard/Eurocard Credit Card XXXX-XXXX-XXXX-XXXX

and this is the paypal transaction receipt.
      • What happens next?
      • PayPal debits the money from your bank account on 19 May 2013, 14 days after your purchase (most items are received within this time frame).
      • We'll send you a reminder email before we debit the money. Or you can pay for your purchase now by logging in to PayPal and selecting your transaction.
      • If the item doesn't arrive or it's significantly not as described, you have 45 days from the date you placed the order to report a problem. See full details.
  • We have recently had this, we didn't select anything, paypal just did it itself.

Don't know why they do it though.

    All I get is:

    Dear ?????? ??????????
You sent a payment of 506.93 GBP for the following items. Thanks for using PayPal to make your purchase. To see the payment details, log in to your PayPal account. It may take a few minutes for this transaction to appear in your account.

    No further emails.
Comes out of my Natwest account anything up to 7 days later but seems pretty random.
Questioned Paypal on the phone 3 months ago about this as a set of payments put my bank account overdrawn. And was told this is how Paypal have always operated.
    It isn't.
