Gas price is so high in comparison

Admittedly, I have been known to turn the boiler for the RADS on full blast and left it overnight so that may be a huge contributor.
Question, I have a very eco friendly boiler - Vaillant versus my parents combi. I do not have a thermostat installed.
Will installing a thermo significantly reduce my bills?

Probably not if you like having your rads on full blast all night0 -
Some additional detail. The boiler fitter said that the boiler should constantly remain powered on (meaning, I shouldn't use the flick switch on the boiler to ever turn it off or the power switch on the wall for that matter). He told me to turn the heating knob for the radiators as and when it was cold but if it wasn't keep the dial all the way to the zero position. He finally said, keep the water dial to full (as itll bring hot water on demand). Is this about right or do I need to change anything?0

Look at kWh usage (or units in the case of gas) to see what you are actually using and what reductions you are able to make.
Having some sort of thermostatic control will of course be preferential to just blindly heating the house regardless. TRVs on each radiator are preferred over a "whole house" thermostat. Neither are that easy to fit though.
Quick way to reduce usage is to turn radiators right down in areas you hardly ever use. Read your meter daily over a period of time before and after making changes to see the effect. Going to be difficult now as you presumably don't have your heating on - we are led to believe it's summer!I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the In My Home MoneySaving, Energy and Techie Stuff boards. Thanks for the replies.
I bought the thermostat, which is this model:
http://www.vaillant.co.uk/trade/products-t/controls-t/heating-controls-t/produkt_vaillant/h-vrt-392.html
I have no idea where to install this. I was thinking in the hall way? Short longish area to front door.
Question - how the heck does this thrmostat speak to the boiler? Its not wireless capable so surely its gotta be hard wired?0 -
From the page you linked to:For additional installation comfort and flexibility the VRT 392 communicates wirelessly through radio frequency technology with the receiver in the boiler fascia. The receiver simply needs to be plugged into the boiler fascia which dramatically reduces the installation effort and time.
The VRT 392 can be used with all ecoTEC boilers
Hope you have an ecoTEC boiler!I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the In My Home MoneySaving, Energy and Techie Stuff boards. If you need any help on these boards, do let me know.
