Llyn peninsula places to go

Hello all, has anyone been to the Llyn Peninsula recently. We are going for a week in July. Me (will be 7 months pregnant), my husband and our two year old boy. I have been there as a child and visited Dwyfor Rabbit Farm which I loved, Criccieth castle (was bored- so definitely not taking a two year old there ) Criccieth beach, and nearby town- both nice. A quieter beach near to a caravan park which I loved but can't remember the name of. Also been to Black Rock Sands as a teenager. Lovely but very busy and I remember the walk down from the carpark being quite steep for a heavily pregnant lady and a toddler.
So any other suggestions? My little boy loves trains and I seem to remember a miniature railway but can't find it on web. Any nice parks etc. I ordinarily love coastal walks etc but won't be up to long walks and needs to be toddler friendly too.
Anywhere good for food?
DH will be off fishing for a day or couple of evenings so any good spots you can recommend would be great too.

Hi, I live not far away from the LLyn.
You can have a day pass to Hafan y Mor, the Haven site just outside Pwllheli and it has a great swimming pool with nice areas for youngsters.

The train youre probably thinking of is http://www.festrail.co.uk/, it is lovely

As you say Dwyfor rabbit farm is still great, a little bit further away is the childrens farm at Lllanfair near Harlech http://www.childrensfarmpark.co.uk/
While youre out that way you could visit Barmouth, they also have a lovely narrow gauge railway http://www.fairbournerailway.com/

If you fancy a beach trip try Whistling Sands http://www.ukattraction.com/north-wales/whistling-sands.htm

My husband and daughter are keen anglers, apparently the coast of Pwllheli is excellent at the moment. Also there is a nice course fishing lakes http://www.eisteddfa-fisheries.com/index.html

Food, Im not sure about as we rarely eat out down this way, we tend to save it until we go further north and find family friendly chains with much cheaper carveries etc!
I don't know if I'm getting better or just used to the pain.
    Bipolar for all

Caernarfon Castle is a decent shout for you 2 yo & hubby to go running around and you can enjoy the inside without going mad. Penryhn Castle the same in Bangor. Beaches = think you were at Borth-y-gest not black rock . But black rock you can drive on (fee) .Whistling sands is good but a bit of a Hike down and up . Aberdaron os a favorite of mine with a great pub food restraunt on the front. Others are Ty Coch (nefyn), Black Boy Inn(caernarfon)The Ship (red wharf bay) Enjoy Lleyn and let us know how it goes . Where are you staying ?
 hard as nails on the internet . wimp in the real world

The Hwylfan Fun Centre in Caernarfon has an under 5's play area.
The fridge is empty, the walls are damp, there's no hot water
And I look like a tramp and tramps like us

If he doesn't get much chance to go on trains then rather than / as well as going on one of the many steam / miniature railways in North Wales, you could simply get a day ranger on the normal coastal line down from Pwythelli to somewhere like Barmouth - it's a beautiful scenic route.

If you fancy a drive, Llanberis is about 40 mins away. Has a train that runs by the lake, nice walks, picnic by the lake, electric mountain & The Den (soft play) which it MUCH better than The Hwylfan in Caernarfon. Not much for a 2 yr old there but the Den caters for the younger child. Plus there is a nice caf! seating area and the real bonus is mum & dad don't have to pay to go in.

Talking of caf's don't forget Petes Eats in Llanberis, good value pile em high, big choice... essential at least once during the holiday, its a national treasure.
