Proof of ownership - travel insurance

I'm off on Holiday for 3 weeks with the freebie Nationwide Europeaninsurance. I am borrowing my brother's camera, which was worth £300 new, butnow worth about £100, and my old laptop, which is now worth about £100, or youcould buy a new equivalent for £250. Will the £400 valuables Limits be enough? Also proof of ownership is impossible as the camera isn't mine and the laptopis so old I don’t have the receipt.
Does anyone have experience of making a claim in these circumstances? Orwill I just have to take it on the chin if I'm unlucky enough to have themstolen?

You will have to think about the total of your belongings that you are taking with. Have a full read of the policy and if you are still in doubt, give them them a call to find out. When you add on a mobile phone and all the other luggage you are taking with you, it would not surprise me if the total exceeded the personal possessions claims limit. The comments I post are personal opinion. Always refer to official information sources before relying on internet forums. If you have a problem with any organisation, enter into their official complaints process at the earliest opportunity, as sometimes complaints have to be started within a certain time frame.0

You also need to check if it is a new for old or indemnity policy. If it is indemnity then you simply get the items secondhand value.
If its new for old then the limit is too low and that assumes you have no watches, sun glasses, mobiles etc.
Travel insurance is mainly about the medical cover and a slight secondary on cancellation etc. Baggage cover is rarely sufficient for most but people can normally use the Personal Possessions cover of their Home insurance0
