It really is worth a visit if you can go in April/May, the island has a huge array of important historical sites in a relatively small area. It's a shame most people who visit Crete only go for bucket and spade holidays.Accept your past without regret, handle your present with confidence and face your future without fear0 -

Will bear that in mind thanks0 -
We went to Florida when dd was 12 weeks old.
We stayed with relatives so slightly easier. I breastfed (but taking milton tablets, travel kettle, and enough formula will work fine). My relatives had a travel cot there, but the pop up cots are light enough.
For the flight the cabin crew can warm up bottles (Crete is only a short flight so it won't be too bad). Between the two of you you can take it in turns holding the baby. As well as formula give baby plenty of water.
Bring a handheld fan with you, plenty of sun cream, and for the pool one of those floaty things.
We took our 3 in 1 buggy as needed the car seat for travel.
Do not stress though, your going to a country where they have children. Babies are adaptable, and as long as they are properly cared for in the sun, will do absolutely fine in it x
Oh and buy mini sun glasses, you may feel like it is silly but is great for babies in the sun.99.9% of my posts include sarcasm!Touch my bum :money:Tesco - £1000 , Carpet - £20, Barclaycard - £50, HSBC - £50 + Car - £1700SAVED =£0Debts - £28500 -
Hi everyone
Thanks for all your advice - very useful indeed.
As it happens I am exclusively breastfeeding our son - so no need for formula etc.
I think I will take all the advice and definitely go towards the end of September when the weather will be a bit less hot.
And peachyprice - the reason why I picked Crete is because I would love to visit at least some of the archeological sites - I don't think any visit to Greece is complete without doing that - there's only so much time I can spend sitting by the pool / walking on the beach.
The only other question I was gonna ask is - why is Selfcatering more convenient??? I was thinking definitely all inclusive if not half board - I seriously can't be doing with going on holiday only to cook and wash up etc - it will be nice knowing that the meals are all taken care of.0 -

I personally think self-catering is better with a baby because in a hotel room you tend not to have kitchen facilities, fridge, kettle etc. You know, things that help when you're sterilising, keeping water boiled and cool (baby will need to be kept well hydrated in the heat).
With a child I always go self-catering - and I usually don't cook at all in the apartment. You also tend to have more room in an apartment compared to a hotel room.0 -

You don't have to cook and wash up if you go self catering, you can still eat out. Hotel rooms are usually just basic facilities, with self catering you will have more flexibility and probably more room too.0 -

Definitely wait until September then, it'll be worth it, there's so much to see
We've always found self catering far more convenient when travelling with small children, there's no timetable to keep to, if baby is up all night due to the change in surroundings you don't have to worry about missing breakfast or getting out for the chambermaid, you don't have to worry about being on time for lunch or dinner, you have so much more space, you're not stuck in a hotel room if baby wants to crash out at 8pm, etc, etc, etc.Accept your past without regret, handle your present with confidence and face your future without fear0
