Childs 1st Passport! **Help**

Hi, 1st post so may go on a bit, but basically, we have booked a first holiday abroad with our 3yr old daughter so applied for a passport last tuesday (4th)...we received a text the next day saying thank you for application etc and it was being processed! Then yesterday (14th) we received a letter from passport office saying "Thank You for application, unfortunately a birth certificate or adoption certificate was not sent!"
Basically, the birth certificate was definitely 100% sent, as we triple checked ourselves and also got the postman to check it before it was sealed up! As there is no check and send at our post office the man there told us to send it secure delivery which we did!
As we only received letter yesterday we haven't had chance to call them, but I want to know where we stand.
Also, on Monday, as I have online banking, the payment had already been taken! Surely they would have noticed "no birth certificate" when opening the letter and wouldn't have processed the payment and then why did i not receive a phone call instead of waiting a week and a half to send a letter!!

Unfortunately nearest passport office is in London so bit far, but if all else fails I will. Going to phone them tomorrow to get an explanation but no doubt they'll come out with some story! Just can't see how they haven't received it as was definitely in when sent Special Delivery! And like I said, payment was processed!
We travel Aug 30th so still a way away but just wanted it sorted. Well, we haven't actually got a copy of it (stupid us for not taking one) but they don't accept copies of it in the 1st place otherwise would have sent it!
We'll see what they have to say tomorrow and will then post!0 -
Did you send in the Full birth certificate? The one with the parents' details?
If not, that's what they will be looking for.
Since you are travelling soon the best thing to do is get another copy from the registrar's office and send it in with a note of when you are travelling.0 -
didnt think you were suppose to book a holiday without having the passport first, as smudge56 said its the full (the one you pay for) birth certificate that is needed not the free one:beer:0
