right we are finally thinking of getting a new tv and getting in teh 2st century with a hd/hdmi lcd tv

but what does it all mean?

i know that hd means high definnition that much i understand, and that we will get much better pictures etc...

but what is hdmi????? from googling it its some sort of cable things or something???

we are looking around at getting a 40" sony series something like this but is that any good?

we would have a budget of about 1100 and would like a dvd recorder as well as the tv and stand.

but what do we have to look out for when buying? we want to be as future proof as possible (i know that the tv will probably be out of date in a weeks time anyway!! )

come on folks help out little me who doesnt have a clue about this new technology only that its a tv and i can get my fave progs :D

    thanks for that chippy,

but by reading alot of it, hdmi would be useful to have for future-proofing even if we dont use it now yeah?

i have virgin cable so no sky hd or anything, so would having hdmi benefit me in any other way other than future proofing?

really dont know where to start with all this stuff, gone of the days of just buying a tv, now its all hd ready, hdmi slots, digital blah blah!!

we know we would like a sony but there are so many slightly different models that its a maze!!
