If you've downloaded videos and want to convert them to DVD, you would be far better using a program such as ConvertXtoDVD. ConvertXtoDVD can perform 2-pass conversions, meaning they will fight onto your DVD without losing too much quality.0

Is that program free to download ?
It appears to be confused - "FREE DOWNLOAD" on one button - but "£34.99" on the next and "RENT £9.99" on the third !!0 -

Unfortunately the program will cost £34.99 for full and continuous use, but it's worth every penny in my opinion - that's coming from somebody who has used the program for over four years. Is that program free to download ?

Do they actually have to be in standard DVD format?
Many DVD players and virtually all media drives will play h264/mkv and suchlike, there are plenty of free encoders.
E.g. Staxrip
In this case - yes it does - it is to be viewed on a TV with built in DVD player - the only options are MPEG 2 or DVD format
I have tried MPEG 4 and that doesn't display - and I can't see a way of downgrading to MPEG-2 !!0 -

Why don't you use a ripper, then convert then with either Super, Any Video Converter, both are free. To rip I prefer DVD Magic. It's paid for but I got it free with Giveawayoftheday. A good free ripper is winxdvd http://www.winxdvd.com/dvd-ripper/
You will probably lose a bit of quality but it may be worth a try.0
