Help Please. McAfee is draining my phone battery

Hi,:)
Need some help please.
I have a Sony Ericsson xperia mini pro. I had McAfee pre loaded. I use it for internet, texting and calls. Sometimes the camera and calculator but that's about it. I have never downloaded an app and have had it just over a year, oh has one too. Our batteries don't seem to last as long as expected and I suspect it is McAfee. It appears to prevent the phone going into sleep mode and uses up the battery power. Even with little use we are having to charge our phones every 24 hrs.

What can I do to stop this and what security is best that will not drain my phone battery please.

Thanks M:)

    first off *UNINSTALL* McAfee.

AVG / Avast / BitDefender are good AV apps.

    Also go to "settings"
    then "battery"
you should see a graph of your battery level and a list of things using the battery with % after them
what's the first 3 items on the list?

then tap the graph, you'll see another graph and another list of items with broken coloured lines.

each line represents when part of the phones was using the bettery

unbroken line means it's constantly using the battery (This can be bad if it's things other than Wi-fi , Mobile network signal or screen)

Broken line means it's using it now and again (can be good unless it's Mobile network signal as the phones uses a lot more power when it tries to search for a signal)

    I've been Money Tipped!
Since charging 17hrs 30 mins ago the battery used is 50%,
    McAfee has used 68%,
    wifi 12%,
    display 7%,
    cell standby 8%
    phone idle 8%

When I look at the graph it lists below
    phone signal
    wifi constant line
    awake constant line
    screen on broken line

That just confirms what you've suspected!!

McAfee is sucking your battery dead! ^_^ it's used over 2/3 of the battery alone!

un-install the AV and run your phone as normal over the weekend and see if that improves battery life (which it should) check the graphs again Sunday night you should see a difference.

I've not bothered with an AV for my android phone. So far never had a problem. But if you're really worried then try some of the AV i mentioned in my first post just do a search in google market.

    Thanks will do.
I don't store much on my phone, but do connect it to the lappy and I'm concerned I might pick something up and transfer it by linking to other devices.

It may be misreporting though, those % graphs are far from the full picture!
If 17h is 50% battery that's not bad actually, most smartphones need to feed daily, and the mini ones have a smaller battery so I don't think things are as bad as they appear

The lappy should have it's own AV and this should cover any data entering the lappy.
